Conducting the medical trial is an expensive affair and is a long term commitment. Only the strong sponsors like the pharmaceutical companies can fund the clinical trial. The trail costs can generally be categorized into two types. The first type costs namely routine patient’s costs have to be compensated by the patients. These costs generally include doctor visits, hospital stays, clinical laboratory tests, and x-rays. These costs occur despite of your participation in the medical trial. The insurance companies will help the volunteer in handling these kinds of costs. Sometimes, the extra costs also should be paid by the participants. The patient will be detailed about all the costs involved and the reimbursement made for the trail costs before he participates in the medical trial.
The second types of costs that are bound with the clinical trial include research costs. These costs are completely related to the research of the medical trial which includes data collection and management, research physician and nurse time, analysis of results, and tests purely performed for research purposes. The patient does not bear any responsibility in the cost associated research conducted in handling the medical trial.
